Tri-Town Website Q&A

The goal of this website is to provide an online meeting place for residents and former residents of the Tri-Town area, and to display images from the 2003 reunion/town centennial. There is lots of room for more content so suggestions are welcome. So that your visits here will always be enjoyable, this Q&A has been added.  You may also want to read the updates page.  Or if you want to know how to delete cookies... First, a brief description of the main components of this website:

Photos
Most of the photos are from recorded video. A DVD of the Reunion events is available on this website. If anyone objects to their photo being on this website please contact the site curator so that changes can be made promptly.  Any photo can be downloaded for personal use by right-clicking your mouse when the cursor is over the photo (Windows) or by holding down the option key and clicking the mouse button (MAC).   If you would like a higher resolution copy of a picture on this website and/or want to use it for another website, publication, or other commercial use, please contact me:

Video files
A dial-up modem can be used to download some of the video clips if you don't mind waiting. With a cable or DSL modem it takes about 10-30 Seconds to download all of them except Tom Plaunt's rendition of Kreisler's "leibeslied". It wouldn't be right to offer anything but the whole piece, even though it takes a few minutes to download. The video files are MPEG1; eventually other formats will be available. To minimize the website load please save the video files after loading, instead of downloading multiple times. That way more people can access the video clips and this feature will not disappear.

Audio files
These are in .WAV format.  MP3s may appear later.

Message Boards and UnClassified Ads
At the request of almost all the visitors of this website I have added a message board that doesn't have a registration and login requirement.  The old board is still there, as well as the adboard.    The main reason for having such a complicated message board in the first place was for privacy.  Anytime you put your email address on a website nowadays it can get read by a spam-bot.   The Tri-Town Website is very new and so far hasn't been visited by any spam-bots.  And its purpose is to help Tri-Town people stay in touch with one another.   So for now there doesn't appear to be any need for users to register before they can use the message board.   Please use your real name when you post a message.   You don't have to include your email address in the message header but if you do a hyperlink will be added that will make it easy for your friends to email you.   They only have to click on your name to open up an email window.
There is no restriction on the use of the UnClassified Ads, except for illegal or offensive uses. At this time Tri-Town area businesses are welcome to post ads gratis. Individuals and small businesses are welcome to post any kind of ads (job wanted/for sale/for rent/rental wanted/etc) they require. An ad will run for 2 weeks, possibly longer. Eventually users will be able to de-list their ads. To ask that a message or ad be removed, email the website curator.

  • How do I contact the website curator?
  • Can I use html tags anywhere in my posts?
  • Why doesn't my email address appear anywhere?
  • Why didn't my post show up?
  • Are there any conditions on my use of this website?

How do I contact the website owner?

    Send email link: Tri-Town Website

Can I put HTML tags anywhere in my BBS posts?

HTML tags can't be used in the subject field but they can be used in the message itself to display coloured text, links to other websites, or a colored background. For example the following HTML creates the coloured text on the next line: <font color="Red" size=6> Large red
    Large red

Why doesn't my email address appear anywhere?

Your email address is not displayed in any message or ad you post to prevent it from getting picked up by spammers. You can send email to other registered members of this site by clicking on their name. Your email address will not get sent if you don't include it in the email you send.

Why didn't my post show up?

Your post most likely did not show up, because your browser did not reload the page, it simply pulled it out of cache. Please reload your browser and it should then appear.

Are there any conditions on my use of this website?

This website is open to all residents, former residents, and friends of the Tri-Town area. The goal is to provide a website that can help everyone stay in touch, wherever they are. There are no age restrictions here, so please don't post any questionable material.
