How to delete Cookies and other Temporary Internet Files

Cookies are stored on your computer by many of the web pages you visit.  This website stores cookies only if you log into the Message or Ad Boards.   They are used to identify you as a registered user and allow the website software to retrieve your name and email address, without requiring you to login everytime.  Earlier this month (Feb '04) users of the message board were getting the wrong user name when entering.  As a result any message they posted looked like it was posted by me, Bill Ogilvie.  That problem has now been fixed (I'm really, really pretty sure of this).   So you don't have to delete cookies if you don't want to.   In case you want to, here are the instructions:

If you are using the Microsoft or MSN internet browser:

1) MSN - start up the Internet Explorer from start>programs

2) In Internet Explorer, on the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
On the General tab, click Settings, and then click View files.

3) An explorer window will come up labeled "Temporary Internet Files".
If you do View>Change Icons by Type from the top menu, all the cookie files
will appear in one group.  Look for the ones that have www.tri-town in the
Internet Address column and delete those ones.  Some people make a habit
of deleting everything in this directory on a regular basis, but if you do that you
will need to login again to some websites.

If you are using Netscape Navigator for your internet browser:

1) In the Navigator Window do Tools>Cookie Manager>Manage Stored Cookies

2) You will see a list of cookies in the scroll box.

3) Scroll down until you see the www.tri-town cookies and delete them

4) When you login again you will get new, improved cookies

5) You might want to delete a lot of the other cookies while you are at it.
